# Status bar and AhaSlides service problems

> A red bar at the top of AhaSlides means a problem on our side, not your device or internet. What it says, when it clears and where to follow updates.

When something goes wrong on our side, AhaSlides shows a red bar across the top of the screen, so you know straight away that the problem is not your device or your internet connection. Use this page to check what the bar means, what to do while it is showing, and where to follow updates.

## The status bar at a glance

| | |
| - | - |
| What it looks like | A red bar across the top of the screen |
| What it says | "We're having a system issue on our side and are working to fix it. Please try again in a few minutes." |
| Where it shows | Home, your presentations list and the editor, once you are signed in. It does not show on the sign-in and sign-up pages. |
| When it clears | By itself, within about a minute of the problem being fixed |
| Live updates | The [AhaSlides status page](https://status.ahaslides.com) |
| Availability | Every plan. It appears automatically, with nothing to switch on. |

## What to do when you see the status bar

1. **Don't change anything on your side.** The bar means the problem is on our side, so restarting your router, clearing your browser data or switching devices won't fix it.
2. **Follow the [AhaSlides status page](https://status.ahaslides.com)** for live updates on which services are affected and when they are back.
3. **Try again in a few minutes.** You don't need to reload to make the bar go away: it disappears by itself once we have fixed the problem.

If a **Cannot connect to server** window opens while the problem is on our side, it says the same thing: "This is on our side, not your internet connection." Click **Reload** to try again once the bar has gone.

## Troubleshooting AhaSlides when there is no status bar

### Something fails, but there is no red bar

When there is no red bar, the cause is more likely to be your connection or your network. In that case the **Cannot connect to server** window asks you to check your internet connection.

1. Check your internet connection, then reload the page.
2. If AhaSlides won't load at all at work or school, the network may be blocking it. See [Using AhaSlides on a restricted network](https://docs.ahaslides.com/getting-started/using-ahaslides-on-a-restricted-network.md).
3. If your audience can't join a live session, see [Presentation won't start or participants can't join](https://docs.ahaslides.com/presenting/presentation-wont-start-or-participants-cant-join.md).
4. Check the [AhaSlides status page](https://status.ahaslides.com) too, in case a problem has just started.

## Frequently asked questions

### Can I close the status bar?

Yes. Click the **×** on the right of the bar. This only hides it on the page you are on: it doesn't affect the fix, and the bar shows again on other pages while the problem continues.

### Do I need to report the problem to AhaSlides?

No. The bar means we have found a problem on our side and are working on it. If something still doesn't work after the bar has gone, email [hi@ahaslides.com](mailto:hi@ahaslides.com).
