# Use the Photo Share slide

> Photo Share lets your audience send photos from their phones straight onto the big screen — as a live tiled wall, a carousel, or a cinematic Ken Burns show.

Photo Share turns the big screen into a live photo wall that the whole room builds together. You pose a prompt, your audience takes or picks a photo on their phones, and each one appears on screen the moment it lands. It is an unscored media slide — no question, no timer, no points — so it stays up and keeps filling for as long as the room keeps sharing.

Because it is a marketplace slide type, you will find it in the **Media** category of the slide type picker. Everyone joins the way they always do on AhaSlides — a join code or QR, no app and no login.

## How it works

You give the slide a title — a prompt like *"Share a photo of your desk"* — and turn on audience joining. Every participant gets an upload screen on their phone where they take or choose a photo, add an optional caption, and tap **Share photo**. Photos stream onto the presenter screen live, and you choose how they are shown: a **Tiled wall** where every photo is visible at once, a **Carousel** that shows one photo at a time, or a **Ken Burns** show that pans and zooms slowly across each photo. If you leave audience submissions open, people can keep adding photos throughout.

## Setting up your slide

<Steps>
  <Step title="Add the slide">
    In the editor, click **New slide** and choose **Photo Share** from the **Media** category of the slide type picker.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Write your prompt">
    Give the slide a title — the prompt your audience answers with a photo. An optional description adds any extra instruction.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Choose a display mode">
    Pick how photos appear on screen under **Display mode** — **Tiled wall**, **Carousel**, or **Ken Burns** (see the modes below).
  </Step>

  <Step title="Set moderation if you need it">
    Turn on moderation to approve each photo before it reaches the big screen — useful for public or large events.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Turn on captions and names">
    Optionally let participants add a **caption** under their photo, and show each uploader's **name** beside it.
  </Step>
</Steps>

## Display modes

**Display mode** sets the rhythm of the wall. There are three:

<AccordionGroup>
  <Accordion title="Tiled wall">
    Every photo stays on screen at once, and new arrivals pop in as they land — the classic live photo wall. Two extra controls shape it:

    * **Photo layout** — how the tiles are arranged: Uniform grid, Mosaic (featured tiles), Masonry columns, or Polaroid collage.
    * **Transition** — how the wall keeps moving between arrivals: Shuffle, Drift, Spotlight, Cascade wave, Flip, Zigzag, Tornado, Orbit, or Reveal one by one.
  </Accordion>

  <Accordion title="Carousel">
    Shows one photo at a time and auto-advances, with a choice of **Transition** between photos: Zoom blur, Flip, Cube, Swirl, Slide across, Slide up, Fade, or a hard cut. Set **Seconds per photo** to control the pace.
  </Accordion>

  <Accordion title="Ken Burns">
    Shows one photo at a time with a slow, cinematic pan-and-zoom across each image. Set **Seconds per photo** to control how long each one holds.
  </Accordion>
</AccordionGroup>

## Presenting

Click **Preview** in the top header to check the presenter and participant views first. When you present, photos appear on the big screen as your audience shares them. If you turned on moderation, each photo waits for your approval before it shows. Keep submissions open to let the wall keep growing, or close them once the room has shared enough.

## Common use cases

Photo Share fits any moment where a shared visual brings the room together.

### Events and socials

* **Live event wall** — collect photos from a party, conference, or meet-up and run them as a Tiled wall on the main screen.
* **Icebreakers** — "show us your view right now" or "your pet" warms up a room in seconds.

### Meetings and workplace

* **Team check-ins** — a photo of everyone's desk, lunch, or workspace for a remote or hybrid team.
* **Celebrations** — gather snapshots from a project, trip, or milestone into one Ken Burns reel.

### Education

* **Field or project work** — students submit a photo of their result, experiment, or sketch to a shared wall.
* **Show and tell** — a fast, visual way for a class to contribute at once.

## Photo Share vs. Interactive Image

Both build on photos, but they work in opposite directions. With **[Interactive Image](/using-slide-types/using-the-interactive-image-slide)** *you* upload one picture and the audience taps hotspots to read it. With Photo Share the **audience** supplies the pictures and they gather live on screen — it collects photos rather than presenting one.

## Frequently asked questions

### How do people add a photo?

They join your presentation on their phone, then take or choose a photo and tap **Share photo**. No app or login is needed.

### Can I stop unwanted photos from appearing?

Yes. Turn on moderation and every photo waits for your approval before it reaches the big screen.

### Can each person share more than one photo?

Yes, when you allow multiple submissions — the phone shows *"Add as many photos as you like"* and people can keep contributing.

### Can participants add a caption or their name?

Yes. **Captions** and **Participant names** are optional toggles in the slide's settings.

### Is Photo Share scored?

No. It is an unscored media slide — there is no timer, no points, and no leaderboard.

### Which display mode should I use?

Use **Tiled wall** to keep every photo visible as the room shares, **Carousel** or **Ken Burns** to spotlight one photo at a time as a rolling show.
