Halloween Race is a zero-prep fright-night game for your presentation. Everyone who joins gets a spooky racer on their phone, and when you press Start race the monsters dash across a moonlit graveyard to a checkered finish line. The winner is pure luck: every racer has equal odds, tapping faster does nothing, and nothing is scored.

How to run Halloween Race

AhaSlides Halloween Race slide type highlighted in the Game filter of the slide type picker
  1. In the editor, click New slide and choose Halloween Race. A new slide is already a complete, playable race.
  2. Optionally adjust the race duration, the result screen or the music (see the settings below).
  3. Leave Racers on Audience join and click Present. Everyone who joins gets a racer automatically and can swap it with Change racer until the race starts.
  4. Once at least 2 racers are on the track, click Start race or press Enter. The winner appears on the big screen and on every phone.
  5. Use Race again for another round, or Race again without the winner’s name to let everyone else race without them.

The big screen shows each racer by name on the track, with a racer count and the race timer. Phones show the participant’s own racer. With My list, phones simply say to watch the big screen.

Ideas for using Halloween Race

  • Halloween parties and team events: a quick, spooky shared moment for any room.
  • Prize draws and giveaways: everyone who joined is a racer, so the track picks a winner with nothing rigged.
  • Fair volunteer picks: choose someone without singling anyone out.
  • Icebreakers and energisers: a no-stakes laugh before the serious part starts.

Halloween Race vs. other slide types

  • Not a scored quiz: for a graded competition, use a quiz slide.
  • Not a name spinner: to spin one pre-entered name or option, use the Spinner Wheel.
  • Not the same race with ducks: for a pond race instead of a graveyard, use Duck Race.

Frequently asked questions

Does the racer I pick affect who wins?

No. Every racer has equal odds, so the choice is only for fun.

Is the winner decided by speed?

No. The winner is drawn at random when the race starts, and tapping or waiting changes nothing.

Can I choose who wins?

No. There is no setting to preselect a winner.

How many racers can take part?

A race needs at least 2 racers and holds up to 60. If more people join, the extra participants watch the race on their phones and can join the next one.

What if someone joins after the race starts?

They see that the race has already started and can join the next one.

Can the winner sit out the next race?

Yes. After a race with more than 2 racers, click Race again without the winner’s name. The winner sits out and everyone else races again.

Is Halloween Race free to use?
