Both tools turn a session into something your audience joins from their phones. This page breaks down where they differ — on activity types, quiz play, PowerPoint import, surveys, reports, AI and integrations — so you can make an informed choice.

AhaSlides and Kahoot activity types

Kahoot is built around the game-show quiz, and it does that very well. AhaSlides covers quizzes too, then adds the polls, brainstorms, image activities, surveys and presentation slides you need for training, meetings and events, in the same deck. AhaSlides Kahoot
  • Test knowledge — Quiz, True or false, Type answer, Puzzle (put answers in order), Slider, Pin answer
  • Collect opinions — Poll, Word cloud, Brainstorm, Drop pin, Open-ended, Scale, NPS scale
  • Q&A, with moderation in its Professional hosting mode
  • Slides for text and media between questions
  • Most question types beyond Quiz and True or false depend on your Kahoot plan
  • No matching, sorting into categories, fill-in-the-blanks, drawing, or game slides such as a spinner wheel

Quizzes, teams and game modes

Both tools run a scored quiz with a live leaderboard, and both let people play in teams or in their own time.

Importing PowerPoint and PDF files

Both tools let you bring in an existing deck and add interactive questions between your own slides. AhaSlides also has an add-in that runs inside PowerPoint itself. See Importing a PowerPoint presentation or PDF file and Using PowerPoint’s AhaSlides add-in.

Surveys in AhaSlides and Kahoot

AhaSlides has a standalone survey tool, AhaSlides Surveys. You can create and share a Survey for free, and drop the same Survey live into a presentation. A few extras, such as custom themes and exporting results, aren’t available on every plan. Kahoot has no standalone survey tool. You can collect opinions with poll, scale and NPS questions inside a kahoot.

Reports after the session

Both tools show you results for each session and for each player. AhaSlides also follows each participant across sessions; on Kahoot, that needs its player identifier. See Presentation and participant reports.

AI and integrations

Both platforms have AI that builds content from a prompt, and both offer an MCP server for connecting AI assistants like ChatGPT and Claude. The main gap is learning management systems: Kahoot connects to more of them, on some plans.
“The ChatGPT integration significantly reduces the time needed to create questions for polls and quizzes — a big advantage over tools like Menti and Kahoot.” — Rajesh B., Enterprise Academy Lead (G2 review of AhaSlides)

Which tool to choose

Kahoot is a great pick when a fast, competitive quiz game is the whole session. If you want quizzes alongside polls, surveys, word clouds, image activities, brainstorms, Q&A and your own slides — in one presentation — AhaSlides is the stronger choice.
