AhaSlides is an all-in-one interactive presentation platform with a wide range of activity types, ranging from quizzes, games and polls to a Spinner Wheel random picker and presentation slides. Wayground (formerly Quizizz) suits teachers who want a deep bank of assessment question types, per-student accommodations, homework sessions and school LMS links; AhaSlides adds feedback slides such as Rating Scale and Ranking, a standalone survey tool and editable PowerPoint imports. Competitor details were checked against Wayground’s own help centre in October 2026.

AhaSlides vs Wayground at a glance

AhaSlides and Wayground both run live and self-paced quizzes from your audience’s devices; the differences are in question depth, imports, surveys, courses and school integrations.

What AhaSlides has that Wayground doesn’t

AhaSlides has rating, ranking and matrix feedback slides that Wayground’s question types don’t include, plus a standalone survey tool, a PowerPoint add-in and editable PowerPoint imports, so these are the clearest differences.

Activity types

Wayground has a deep set of assessment question types, so the comparison is about different strengths rather than a longer list. AhaSlides covers quizzes, polls and word clouds, then adds feedback scales and a standalone survey tool. AhaSlides Wayground (question types)
  • Basic: Multiple-choice, Multi-select, True or False, Fill in the Blanks, Open-ended, Interactive video, Passage
  • Interactive and higher order: Match, Hot text, Reorder, Categorize, Drag and Drop, Drop-down, and Match Table Grid
  • Math: Math Response, Graphing
  • Visual: Labeling, Hotspot
  • Responses: Audio Response, Video Response, Draw
  • Collect opinions: Poll, Word Cloud, and a Discussion Board for live sessions led by the instructor, available with certain plans
  • Basic question types, plus Draw, Poll and Word Cloud, are available on all plans; most others are available with certain plans

Quizzes, teams and game modes

Both tools run a scored quiz live or in the participants’ own time, and both offer team play.

Importing PowerPoint and PDF files

Both tools let you bring in an existing deck, but AhaSlides imports PowerPoint slides and can keep their text and shapes editable, while Wayground Presentations take Google Slides or PDF files. In Wayground, a Presentation can be built by importing and syncing a Google Slides file, where you edit the original and click Update, or by importing a PDF, whose slides arrive as static images (Wayground Presentations guide). Its AI generator can also pull questions out of PowerPoint files, which creates a quiz rather than keeping your slides (Wayground AI generation guide). See Importing a PowerPoint presentation or PDF file and Using PowerPoint’s AhaSlides add-in.

Surveys in AhaSlides and Wayground

AhaSlides has a standalone survey tool, while Wayground builds surveys from its Poll question type. AhaSlides Surveys lets you create and share a Survey for free, and drop the same Survey live into a presentation. A few extras, such as custom themes and exporting results, aren’t available on every plan. In Wayground you add Poll questions, which have no correct answer, to a resource (Wayground survey FAQ).

Courses for self-paced learning

AhaSlides Courses are made of lessons, pages and blocks such as text, video and knowledge checks, shared with your learners by one link. Wayground lists Assessments, Presentations (formerly Lessons), Passages, Flashcards and Interactive Videos as its resource types, and none of them is a course builder (What is Wayground?); its Presentations can be hosted live or assigned as homework (Wayground Presentations guide). Wayground for Business, its separate product for workplace training, does have courses: sets of quizzes and lessons that learners complete on their own schedule, with certain plans (Wayground for Business courses).

Reports after the session

Both tools show results for each session and for each participant. Wayground goes further on classroom tracking: it keeps growth graphs for classes and students over time (Wayground growth graphs), and has a Standards tab for questions tagged to state standards (Wayground reports guide). See Presentation and participant reports.

AI and integrations

Both platforms have AI that builds content from a prompt, and both connect to AI assistants such as ChatGPT and Claude. Wayground AI can generate an assessment from a prompt, document, website or YouTube video (Wayground AI generation guide), and can grade open-ended and audio responses (Wayground AI grading). The main gap is school systems: Wayground links to Google Classroom, Canvas, Schoology, Moodle, Brightspace, Blackboard and Toddle, while AhaSlides connects to Blackboard through LTI 1.3, which also works with other LTI 1.3 learning management systems and isn’t available on every plan.

Which is better, AhaSlides or Wayground?

Choose Wayground if you are a teacher who needs a deep bank of assessment question types, per-student accommodations such as Read Aloud and extra time (Wayground accommodations), standards-aligned reports, homework sessions and an LMS link for your school. Choose AhaSlides if you want feedback scales, a standalone survey tool, editable PowerPoint imports and self-paced courses alongside your presentations. Comparing other tools? Frequently asked questions

What is the difference between AhaSlides and Wayground?

Wayground centres on classroom assessment, with a deep set of question types, per-student accommodations, homework sessions and school LMS links. AhaSlides covers live and self-paced quizzes too, then adds feedback scales, a standalone survey tool and editable PowerPoint imports, and lets you build self-paced courses in the same account.

Is Wayground the same as Quizizz?

Yes. Quizizz was renamed Wayground, and the company says the core product stays the same (Quizizz is now Wayground).

Can you edit imported PowerPoint slides in Wayground?

Not inside Wayground: PowerPoint files go to its AI question generator, which builds a quiz from them rather than keeping your slides (Wayground AI generation guide). Its Presentations import Google Slides, which you edit in the original file and then update, or PDF files, whose slides arrive as static images (Wayground Presentations guide). With Import as editable slides, AhaSlides keeps text and shapes editable in its own editor.

Does Wayground have a standalone survey tool?

Wayground says you can run a survey with the Poll question type (Wayground survey FAQ), so surveys sit inside a resource. AhaSlides has AhaSlides Surveys as a separate tool.

Which learning management systems does Wayground work with?

Its help centre lists Google Classroom, Canvas, Schoology, Microsoft Teams, Blackboard, Moodle, Brightspace and Toddle, and most of them need certain plans (Wayground LMS list). AhaSlides connects to Blackboard through LTI 1.3, and the same approach works with other LTI 1.3 learning management systems; this isn’t available on every plan.

Can Wayground quizzes run in students’ own time?

Yes. A resource can be assigned as homework in Practice, Accuracy or Testing mode (Wayground homework modes). AhaSlides quizzes can run self-paced too.

Can I use AhaSlides for free?

Yes. You can sign up for free; the free account has no time limit, and you can run a session with a live audience before deciding whether to upgrade. Some features aren’t available on every plan; if yours doesn’t include one, you’ll be prompted to upgrade. See AhaSlides pricing for current plans.

Do participants need an app?

No. Participants join an AhaSlides presentation in their phone’s browser by typing the join link or scanning a QR code, and they don’t need an account. See Invite participants to your presentation.
